WHY I’M RUNNING
As many of you may know, I wear several hats in our community: I'm a high school social studies teacher, coaching both football and track, and I also serve as an adjunct professor at Ivy Tech Community College. Today, I want to share with you another role I'm stepping into - I'm running for the School Board of East Chicago.
Why am I running? It's simple: I want to make a difference in the lives of our students.
Throughout my career as an educator and coach, I've had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the potential within each student. Whether it's guiding them through the intricacies of history and government, coaching them through the highs and lows of sports, or helping them navigate the early stages of higher education, I've seen how dedicated teaching and mentorship can transform lives.
But I also recognize the challenges our school district faces. We have incredible potential, but we need to ensure our resources are used effectively and that every student has the opportunity to succeed. That's where my experience comes in. With years of teaching I understand the unique needs of our students and educators. As an adjunct professor, I bring insights from higher education that can help prepare our students for the future.
My goal on the School Board will be to strengthen the School City of East Chicago. This means advocating for policies that support both academic excellence and personal growth. It means fostering an environment where teachers feel supported and empowered to innovate in their classrooms. And most importantly, it means ensuring that every decision we make is in the best interest of our students.
I believe in transparency, collaboration, and accountability. As a School Board member, I will continue to listen to the concerns of parents, students, and teachers alike. I will work tirelessly to ensure that our district is a place where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Running for School Board is not just about me - it's about all of us who care deeply about the future of our community. Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can build a stronger School City of East Chicago.
I ask for your support and your vote in the upcoming election. Together, let's create a brighter future for our students.
